Medical Triage Challenge

Come learn about how to assess and prioritize who needs immediate care in a disaster. After a disaster our fist responders will be overwhelmed. Our neighborhoods will need to be able to identify people in need of immediate medical assistance. Come join us for the Medical Triage Challenge. Learn some skills to help your community. There will be an educational part followed by hands-on practice. If you have an FRS or ham radio, bring that too. We want to include emergency radio communications into all of our practice. We’ll have extra radios, if you don’t have one.

Emergency Radio Communications Challenge

Come join your neighbors in the North & East for our emergency communications challenge! Teams will be given a radio and instructions and have to walk around a section of the neighborhood identifying hazards (green sheets) and radio the information to the Incident Command Post (ICP). It's a fun exercise and you'll learn how to use radios in an emergency situation. This will help you and your community be better prepared for The Big One!

The scenario is there is 7.1 magnitude earthquake with fires in the neighborhood. If you have a handheld radio (FRS, GMRS, or ham), please bring it. Make sure the batteries are charged and you have a label on your radio. Wear sturdy shoes, and if you have leather gloves and a hard hat, wear those too.

Don't have a radio?

- We will have a few radios on hand.
- We also need several people to be scribes. They will record all of the information.

NOTE: You do not need to live in the North & East to participate in our part of the Radio Challenge.

¿No tienes radio?

- Tendremos algunas radios a mano.
