CERT Richmond - Maintain CERT Skills

Online CERT Training - Utah offers a 16-hour online CERT class that gives the basic content. This is also a great review for people who have taken CERT but would like to review part or all of the curriculum. This is not a certificated class as it lacks the hands-on component, but it will provide you with necessary skills to respond safely in a disaster to support your family and community. The link to the course will be provided at the end. We want to know who is taking the training to build resilience in our community. Medical Operations 1: Relearn the Disaster Medicals 1 material at your own pace at home. (2h 22 min.)

Print helmet stickers for door marking & Triage (30-2-Can Do). Print on water resistant labels.

Triage and Medical Treatment: Learn the three critical things to look for with "Immediate" victims. Remember in triage the focus is to determine the severity of the injury and only treat "Immediate" victims enough to sustain life until other teams can take over. (10 min.)

Removing Medical Glove: Learn how to prevent contamination to victims and self by learning how to remove gloves safely as well as how to purify if you run out of gloves. (2 min.)

Fire Extinguishers: Learn the parts, categories, and use of fire extinguishers.

Fire Dangers: CERTS should never enter a smoke filled building. Fires can quickly grow.

Fire Don'ts: Touch the bottom of the door with the back of you hand and move up to test for heat and a potential fire. Do not open if hot.
This will feed the fire.

Grease Fire Safety: Never add water to a grease fire or attempt to move the fire.

Chair Carry for Emergencies: Learn how to access a chair for strength and to transport injured victims safely with a chair.

Log Roll Blanket Carry: Learn how to work together to safely transport people using a blanket asa team. You can also use rolling furniture to help move people.
